PAUL PAPADOPOULOS
Welcome! I am Paul, an ex-corporate cube dweller who finally decide to cut off all ties with the corporate world and see what our wonderful has to offer, and along the way try and photograph some of the more meaningful places and people I get to see.
Travel
Half Irish, half Greek, born in London, raised in London, Greece and the south of France, through work and my lust for travel I have managed to live and work in most of Western Europe, parts of South East Asia and in North America. I have also been on numerous trips to South America, the Middle East and South Africa. One could say I have travelled a lot but that was initially mainly for work. My passions have helped me extend my horizons even more and allowed me to travel to some incredible places such as Cocos Island in Costa Rica, the Spice Islands and all over Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, New Zealand, the Sudan and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia amongst others.
Photography
Photography has always been present in my life. In high school I joined the photo club and learnt the basics of dark room magic. At university I took a semester in Photography and continued to learn the ropes in the darkroom. But work took its toll, and it was not until more than 15 years later that I jumped back in. I managed to associate 2 passions, scuba diving and photography, and submerged in the wonderful world of underwater photography. Over the years I managed to better my technical skills through numerous diving trips to some incredible locations and with very talented underwater photographers. And of course while being in these wonderful locations I wanted to try and capture some of what was above water. After a while this became my main focus even though the learning process is as long, if not longer, than underwater!
Some years ago as I transitioned out of the corporate environment, I was lucky enough to go around the world and visit many countries I had not been to yet. And then I arrived in Cambodia and became infatuated with the country and the people. Since then I go back time and again trying to better my photography and learn as much as I can about the place and its wonderful people.
The images that you see here are all influenced and shaped by all of the emotions I felt throughout all of the above and the knowledge that I try to continue to increase about the region, the people and of course my photography. This gallery is meant to showcase the images I prefer. They will change over time as I see, and feel, things differently and get to experience new exchanges with the places where I am.
